I work as an engineer in Philips Consumer Electronics, Knoxville. I was transferred here as an expatriate from Philips Singapore in August 1, 1997 and will be here for at least 2 years. I am joined here by my wife and my son. I have been with Philips since March 2, 1992.

I was born in Taiping, (more Taiping links at kayes and Andrew Black)a small town in the state of Perak, Malaysia. I did my primary education in All Saints School, lower secondary in Darul Ridwan and higher secondary school in King Edward VII where I took my GCE 'A' level equivalent. In 1984, I enrolled in National University of Singapore to study Physics in the Science Faculty and eventually graduated in 1988 with B.Sc(Hons).

I took up a Research Assistant post in the Electrical Engineering Department of NUS and after a year obtained a scholarship to do a postgraduate course in Light Characterization of Semiconductor Lasers, leading to a Master of Engineering Degree.
